Harder than expected

That was not what I expected. Surgery went well and about 4 hrs later I did well walking, but then things went downhill from there. That walk was while the spinal had not warn off. Then that evening an aid decided he needed to get my weight. helping me out of bed, he hurt me. Then the narcotic pain killer given didn’t agree with me. By the second night I got sick 3-4 times. Stopped that drug. Came home Thursday, ( hip was Tuesday), took 2 more days to flush that drug out.

Finally getting back at it. By Saturday I had to go to the ER to get a catheter, then Monday-Thursday I called the Urologist, because of the extreme pain with the catheter. Finally on Friday they said to come in. Once there I was worked on for 90 minutes by a Physicians assistant, a Nurse Practicioner and an aid. They fixed the issues and I walked out painfree. The initial install was too tight from me to the attachment to my leg, the pain had been a constant 9 or 10 all the time. Since then I’ve done far better, painfree most of the time.

My new hip has been a pain level of 0 or 1 since day 6, before that it was in the 1-3 level. Now, I’m doing far better. I have PT M-W-F each week, gaining all the time.

2026 maple season, I need to get good enouigh to get my new 2×6 set up for oil, rehang my mains, repair as needed and replace all laterals, drops and taps. Only trying to get 200-250 taps this next year, then 400+ for next yr. My bush has about a 450 tap potential, but if I decide I need more my neighbor on one side has 6 or 7 rows of sugars and reds, that the owners dad planted over 4 yrs ago. I’d need to get her OK. Those could also be run directly to the sugarhouse.

I also need to relocate 2 sap tanks, and a permeate tank, reset the vacuum pump and the head tank, all of which had to be moved back when the large sugarmaple was leaning towards the sugarhouse. If full recovery doesn’t take too long that shouldn’t be a problem.

Update. Today is Monday 9/15/25, I had PT this morning, it was tiring but good. I slept about an hour when I got home. My PT therapist thinks it will likely be 2 more weeks before the Dr will give me the OK to drive, he said it’s usually 4 weeks. 2 weeks from tomorrow will be 4 weeks. Then I’m hoping to get the go ahead to slowly resume working , at the sugarhouse first, then maybe 2 weeks later in the Bush. For my next post I’ll likely start a new post, I’m going to go rest for now, and drink more water. I have PT scheduled for 3x each week for a while.
